The information about Armenia in the Bible has exceptional value because it relates to the most fateful events of mankind, the creation of the world and the rebirth of mankind after the Great Flood.
It tells how the Lord created mankind in Eden, the Paradise, from which the four rivers, Euphrates, Tigris, Pishon, and Geon, began to flow. Scientists still continue to argue about the last two rivers, one of which, of course, is Araks.
Undoubtedly, the region of the sources of the rivers Tigris and Euphrates is the Armenian Highlands. Consequently, the Armenian Highlands is the Eden in which the first people were created and where the symbols of immortality and wisdom were two holy trees, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
The book also tells us that after a while, the Lord decided to destroy humanity with a worldwide flood for its sins, after which Noah and his family moored to the “mountains of Ararat”.
In fact, according to the Bible, Armenia is a sacred place in which mankind was created, where the symbols of immortality and wisdom were stored, and which became the place of the rebirth of mankind after the Flood.
The same ideas can be found in other sources of the ancient world. In particular, it has already been said that in Sumerian mythology, the god Enki together with the mother goddess created mankind in the Armenian Highlands.
In the Sumerian mythological novel, the country of Aratta is revered as a country of holy laws and a land of immortals. It is interesting that the hero of interreligious mythology, Gilgamesh, who is looking for immortality, goes “on his way to Aratta” upstream the Euphrates and crosses the Mashu Mountains (Masu), which frame the Armenian plateau of Mount Masius or Masion from the south.
The same idea can be found in the novel dedicated to Alexander the Great, which was first written back in 240 BC. According to it, Alexander the Great strove for immortality and repeated the traversed the pathway of Gilgamesh, the most famous hero of the Ancient East.
In fact, Alexander, who has never been to Armenia, “went to the country of the Armenians, where Tigris and the Euphrates start”, and passed through the Masis mountain chain on his way.
Consequently, representation of Armenia as an immortal country in the ancient world was so deep that in the world-famous plot for the search for immortality, the most famous hero of the ancient East Gilgamesh is replaced by the most significant hero of the ancient world, Alexander the Great.
It is noteworthy that the goal of both was the Land of Immortality, the Armenian land, where the “Flower of immortality” was located, which corresponded to the Biblical Tree of Life. The second tree of Eden, the Tree of Good and Evil, is a symbol of wisdom.
The fact that Armenia was described in the spiritual representations of the Ancient East as a country of wisdom is vividly seen in the notions of the god Enki prevalent in the Near East plus in the ancient Sumerian record “Wisdom and art were brought from the country of Aratta.”
In the mythological representations of some peoples, the Armenian Highlands are represented as the place of the settlement of the gods, a holy territory. Such ideas were widespread in the beliefs of the indigenous people of the highlands, the ancestors of Armenians, fragments of some of which were preserved in the Armenian Christian literature.
The region High Armenia in Greater Armenia, which was the spiritual center of pre-Christian Armenia, is represented in the following way in “Ashkharatsuyts” (the World Atlas):
“This province, indeed, as its name indicates, is not only higher than other regions of Greater Armenia but the whole world. That’s why it is called the world peak. It emits rivers to all four sides of the world. Four high rivers flow from High Armenia.”
Eden is mentioned to be to the “left”, which deserves special attention. In another part of the book, it is mentioned that people from the “east” moved to the country of Senaari (Sumer) after the revival of mankind. Yet speaking only one language, they decided to build the Tower of Babel.
In both cases, Armenia is represented as a country of the “east”, while it was located north of the country of the Jews recorded in the Old Testament. In another fragment of the same book, the idea repeats three times.
The view of Armenia as a shelter of the sun was preserved in the Hittite sources, according to which the sun came from the “eastern sea” – Lake Van. This completely agrees with the legends according to which the golden bed of the sun was at the bottom of Lake Van, from which it rose and brought daylight with it every morning.
The facts above give some space to ponder for every Armenian. Armenia is considered the place of creation of mankind and its revival after the flood, and not just Armenians’ ancestors, but also peoples who do not have any connection with them.
That is, in prehistoric times, there was a holy supra-religious and supranational ideology, the key role in which was played by the Armenian Highlands. But why the Armenian Highlands? What is the mystery of Armenia and its holiest secret?
