Ancient Ruins Under The Kars-Arpaçay Dam – Historical Armenia

In the province of Kars, Historical Armenia, after the lowering of the water level in the Arpaçay reservoir, an ancient burial site with human remains from the period of the Kingdom of Van was discovered.

Cultural heritage expert and historian Faruk Torunoglu said that the Akyaka-Arpaçay districts have a very ancient history.

Torunoglu commented on this as follows: “Once the gravestones and human remains are examined, a clear conclusion will be drawn. We know that earlier, after the water level in the reservoir decreased, the Black Bridge along with some historical sites appeared.

The area as a whole is under protection, and the necessary measures have been taken. “
