Erimena of Ararat

Araratian copper alloy shield from 650 BCE decorated with incised figures of lions and bulls, with concentric friezes are laid out with the lions and bulls changing direction and base line, so that when the shield is upright no animal is upside down.

Inscription in Araratian dialect says:

“Rusa, son of Erimena, mighty king, great king, lord of the city of Tushpa.”

Found in ancient Armenian city of Van.
