Ghalinjakar (Գալինաջաքար) or Berdavan (Բերդավան) fortress is in the northeast of Armenia in the Tavush province near Noyemberyan and just two steps away from the border with Azerbaijan. Next to the fortress is the village of Berdavan.
The Ghalinjakar fortress is tiny and incomparable, for example, with the fortress Amberd (Ամբերդ). It stands on a hillock and is almost perfectly preserved.
The fortress was built in the 11th century. It was ruined and then renovated in the Middle Ages. Lately, it has been used for its intended purpose during the Nagorno-Karabakh war in the 1990s.
