A silver medallion of the 2nd century BC discovered during excavations in Sisian of Syunik province in Armenia features an image of the “Golden Eagle” squeezing a wild cat, most likely a leopard.
The symbol of the Golden Eagle was important in prehistoric motifs in the Armenian Highlands and was also a symbol of many Armenian ancient dynasties.
For example, the Golden Eagle is part of the symbol of the Artaxiad dynasty.
