Ancient Handprints On The Walls Of Caves In Mersin

Ancient handprints have been found in a cave at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, Mersin province, Historical Armenia. Discovered by a traveler, these handprints shed light on the history of the Neolithic.

The traveler took pictures of the drawings. After finding out about the handprints, experts arrived at the site to begin research work.

Throughout the 5-year research, 60 Neolithic artifacts were found in 7 caves at a depth of up to 60 meters. According to experts, the cave dates back to the Neolithic (10,000 – 4,500 BC).

Archaeologists are intending to achieve state protection for these caves and turn the area into a national park.
