Old historic houses in Kars are being destroyed one after another, writes Akunq.net with a reference to the Turkish media. The Turkish news does not mention the fact that these houses belonged to Armenians. It only states (without mentioning the Armenian heritage) that Kars was the capital during the Bagratuni dynasty.
Naturally, the Turkish media do not report that these houses were abandoned because of the Armenian Genocide. Instead, they state that “the owners just shut the doors and left.”
The publication warns that if measures are not taken, these houses will be demolished. The roofs of most houses in the center of Kars have collapsed, doors and windows have been smashed, and in some places, thieves have dug holes.
The Turkish media also noted that locals are demanding that the authorities take care of these historic houses.
