Salah Performed At Hagia Sophia Of Trabzon

After Hagia Sophia in Constantinople was converted into a mosque, the Hagia Sophia of Trabzon reopened after reconstruction. 7 years ago, Trabzon’s Hagia Sophia was converted into a mosque as well.

Hagia Sophia of Trabzon was first converted into a mosque after 1461 by Sultan Mehmed II and served as such until 1964.

In 1958-1962, restoration works were carried out in the mosque thanks to the collaboration between the General Fund Directorate and the University of Edinburgh. Since 1964 until recently, Hagia Sophia of Trabzon has served as a museum.
