…Phoenicia, the Cilician and Hittite kingdoms, as well as many other countries in Western Asia and Anatolia, were once belonging to the Armenian kingdom, and from ancient times used the Armenian language and the alphabet.
Nevertheless, in the 19th century and early 20th century, the Hittite language was widely considered Semitic. However, in the 20s of the last century, the results of the excavations carried out in the capital of the Hittites in Anatolia proved that their language was Indo-European.
Who were the Arameans? Some say that they were a Semitic tribe who came from Arabia and lived in the Near East between the 14th and 11th centuries BC. However, “Aram” is a typical (very ancient and still common) Armenian name (which means “son of the sun”), and Armenians lived long before the so-called Arameans in the Armenian kingdoms. It would seem that the Arameans with their Semitic origin and language are obviously invented tribes. Why?
There are two university “History of the Armenian People” textbooks – Armenian and (67, p. 43) Russian (66, p. 38) versions – where there are photographs of two different boundary stones with inscriptions. The captions under the images read: “The boundary stone of Artashes I. In Aramaic.”
Artashes I was the king of Greater Armenia in 189-160 BC. On the banks of the Araks River in the Ararat valley, he built the capital Artashat and a citadel (188 BC) with the help of the famous commander Hannibal.
It seemed strange to me why the Armenian king left inscriptions for the Armenian people in a foreign language (in the so-called “Aramaic” language).
It could not be. Why do historians believe that some “Aramaic” tribes (which existed for only 3 centuries and did not even have a country) had an alphabet, and the ancient Armenian kingdom did not?
I think that the Arameans never existed. They were Armenians who lived in the Armenian kingdoms in the Near East and used the Armenian language and the alphabet. To prove all this, I decided to read the inscriptions in Armenian.
And the result was excellent. I copied the letters carved on the stones as they are, and I noticed that most of them resemble modern Armenian letters. The most frequently repeated letter was “a” because it is typical for the Armenian language.
In some books, including the “Armenian writing” of Academician G. Acharyan (59, p. 514), I found the “Aramaic” alphabet and was very surprised. The Armenian letters were not matched to the identical Aramaic symbols. For example, the “Aramaic” letter “պ”, which is identical to the Armenian letter “պ”, is matched to “մ”; “լ” to “ղ”; “ղ” to “հ”; “փ” and “տ” to “կ”; “ի” to “ծ”; etc.
I understood the reason for this mess. After the adoption of Christianity, all Armenian books were burned, but the inscriptions carved on stones could not be destroyed everywhere. But then, since it is widely considered that the Armenians had no alphabet before Mashtots, the “Aramaic” (Semitic) language was invented, and the sequence of letters in the alphabet was deliberately mixed in order to create a mess so that the ancient Armenian inscriptions could not be read.
I arranged the “Aramaic” (and also Phoenician) letters presented in the book in exact correspondence to the similar Armenian letters and found that 17 (61%) of the 28 “Aramaic” letters are identical to Armenian, 7 (25%) letters are similar, and 4 (14%) are different.
Here are those letters:
- Identical letters: ա, գ, զ, ի, լ, կ, հ, ղ, մ, ո, պ, ռ, տ, ր, ց, Ք, օ (4 vowels),
- Similar letters: Դ, ե, է, ժ, յ, ջ, վ (2 vowels).
- Different letters: Բ, խ, ն, ս, (no vowels).
All this means that the Armenian alphabet existed 600 years before Mashtots (about 2200 years before us), and all the so-called “Aramaic” inscriptions actually are Armenian.
Comparison of modern Armenian letters with ancient Armenian (Phoenician and “Aramaic”) letters shows that the configuration of modern letters has been corrected and changed several times, and the ancient letters carved on rocks and stones have long been out in the open and suffered greatly from this.”

This is really impossible as aramaic alphabet derives from canaanite alphabet (phoenician is the word used by greeks to name the canaanites). That same canaanite alphabet comes from an egyptian form of hieroglyphs. And aramaic alphabet crossed all the asian continent to give the different alphabets of that region: indian, thai, chinese, etc.
I’m armenian but not so obsessed with originating everything in the region to armenians. Before having their alphabet, armenians were officiating their mass in churches in syriac.
Please be objectively scientific about topics.
Aram is Armenian, pretty clear proof..
I have learned from several sources that Armenian history goes as far back as 18,000 years! Yes eighteen thousand years!!! What do you make of that?
According to The Legends of the Jews my understanding was they descendents from Noah’s son Japheth. Thet migrated west and to escape persecution from Rome became known as celts. Caananites were of Noah’s son Ham.
Strange how Jerusalem is divided into an othodox, Armenian, muslim and Jewish quarters! Aramaic and greek were the new testament languages so all in all aramaic appears to be Armenian.
Try to be more openminded. Armenian Alphabet existed long before 405AD. Mesrop Mashtoc did not invent it. He found it.
hello, Good Morning

You need to learn Karahunj and the science behind it. Know history. The meaning of Anun ak i, you missed in history.
Aryan means from that blood group, Arun means blood. You need to know a lot more before you discredit and use of the word obsessed.

I totally agree with you. The whole article is misguided. Arameans, just like their coastal neighbors, phoenicians were well established semitic nation. It was our Armenian alphabet that was formed on Aramean, Assyrian and Ethiopian alphabets. It is good to note here that all the alphabets had been created on older formed alphabets.
Interesting to note that Armenia, including its history and its culture have been the targets of deliberate obscuration for milennia. Neighboring cultures and religions nearly succeeded in obliterating true post-Flood history. The efforts of early Christian revisionists and bookburners represented ‘that spirit of antichrist’ that was already in the world.
Ancient prejudice and the pride of later cultures generated the modern notions that we should look to Egypt for the origins of the alphabet of the Phoenicians and that the later Aramaic has its origins in ancient Armenia.

Interesting. I always wondered weather this new name I keep hearing “Aramean” was infact from “Armenian”. I say this because “Armenians” in modern Assyrian language are called “ARAMnayeh”.
“Aram” may also be from the Assyrian word “Rama” which means “high” or “highlanders”.
This person is writing nonsense, I am Assyrian and the only thing I agree upon with this person is that the so-called aramaeans did not have an alphabet but they brought an alphabet with them to Assyria because they were nomadic tribes and since nomads are always moving they do not settle to form communities and begin to create things. Do not be deceived by this armenian writer. The word aramaya in Assyrian means araa ramta, the highland, yes but it can be any place where those nomads were moving. The other thing is that the Assyrian language falsely known as syriac was taught and spoken even by the persians when they invaded Assyria, and later when persians turned to islam they began writing their language using the arabic letters which they adapted to their language. The Armenians are an indo-european people who came to the Middle East and Asia Minor from other places and they were also tribes so they did not have their own alphabet, their alphabet was developed from the Assyrian alphabet erroneously and falsely named aramaic and till now the syrian orthodox say that a syrian orthodox monk that is a Jacobite (Yacobaya) helped an armenian priest named Misrop to develope what is known today as the armenian alphabet so the story is reversed, it is the armenians who took from the Assyrian alphabet not otherwise, the same as the jews took their letters from the Assyrian alphabet and till today it is called Kitav Ashuri (Assyrian writing) . This writer did not even show how the alphabet which was carried by the aramaean nomads corresponded in translation.
This is a very poor example of someone who wants to prove something that does not exist, neither historically nor scientifically, this reminds of a book written by an armenian several years back where the person falsely claimed that the Assyrian King Abgar V Okama who was the king of the Assyrian kingdom of Urhai (city of life) which was later named by the Greeks Edessa, and is known as Urfa in what is today Turkey, that person made the false claim that king Abgar was an arab, something which is totally false since the Assyrians are not arabs and our language, history, and culture are totally distinctive than that of arabs.
I do not know why some people need to fabricate stories and fables rather than telling the truth as it is .
Sorry you are wrong. Modern science provides an opportunity in controversial issues to make genetic analyzes of artifacts found during excavations. In this case, these artifacts throughout the Middle East speak about the autochthonousness of the Armenian people. Abgar Ukamma was not an Assyrian and not an Arab, but an Armenian. The Danilov letters, about which you erroneously speak, mention the name Yacobaya, are in fact an incomplete Armenian alphabet of 21 characters, which were preserved by the Assyrian monk Daniel. Subsequently, this alphabet was supplemented by Mesrop Mashtots and he also created the Armenian writing system. And finally, if you follow your statement about the creation by the Armenians of the Aramaic alphabet from the Assyrian (rather the opposite), then the claim of Paris Heruni about the Armenian roots of the Aramaic alphabet is true.
The theory of the Semitic language group and the term itself was introduced and grafted by A. L. Schlözer and I. G. Eichhorn in the 1780s. By promoting and promoting this theory, in just two hundred and forty years, it was possible to almost completely destroy the ancient science, presenting it as non-existent, and turn the minds of people by instilling a whole layer of science about the nonexistent language group. Who are the Semites, where did they come from and why was the imparted “science” based on only one name, which in the original sounded completely different, is accepted a priori in all modern circles?
ASSYRIA AND SYRIA: SYNONYMS
RICHARD N. FRYE, Harvard University
“Confusion has existed between the two similar words “Syria” and “Assyria” throughout history almost down to our own day. 1 Several years ago, an article appeared in this journal (40 [1981]: 139-40), by John A. Tvedtnes, called “The Origin of the Name ‘Syria’,” in which he rejected the long-accepted statement of Herodotus (7.63) that the Greeks called Assyrians by the name “Syrian” without initial a-.”

I’m Aramean (Suryaye, Asori) and I speak fluent Aramaic. Aram was the land of the Arameans (Aramaye). Aram is a person in the bible. The Arameans are also forefathers of the Jewish people.
By the way, my grandmother was Armenian.
Asori,
Could I PLEASE Send do you copies of Scripps that are on old copper pots that I have acquired? I’ve been told they’re possibly Aramaic However, after a LOT of research, they look more Armenian. I’m trying to figure the language, interpretation, and possible age of these pots. I have 20 and there’s different languages that look more Arabic.

Apologies for the “speech to text” errors.
“According to the legends, the first ancestor of the Armenians was Hayk, son of T’orgom, descendant of Noah’ s son Japhet. After the construction of the tower of Babel he refused to obey the Babylonian tyrant Bel (identified with the Biblical Nimrod) and with his large patriarchal family, consisting of three hundred men, came and settles in Armenia, in the district Hark’ to the northwest of Lake Van. Bel attacked Hayk with his huge army but was killed in the battle. Hayk’s eldest son Aramaneak moved to the Ayrarat province, in the Ararat valley (to the north of Mt. Ararat), which remained the domain of the following generations of the Haykids. Aramaneak’s son Aramayis built the first capital Armawir (60 km. [37.2 miles] to the west of Erevan). Aramayis’ grandson Gelam became the eponym of the Lake and Mountains of Gelam (modem Lake Sevan and the mountain range to the west of it). Gelam’ s grandson Aram, the most warlike character of the ethnogonic myth, through many battles enlarged Armenia’ s borders in all directions. Aram’s son Ara the Handsome was killed in the battle against the Assyrian queen Samiram (Semiramis), and the Armenians fell under the rule of the Assyrians. Thus the “sacred” mythical era of the forefathers of Armenia ends and the “history” begins.”
…
In Flavins Josephus, the Armenians descend (Antiquitates Judaicae 1.6.4), who corresponds to the Biblical Hul, son of Aram, eponym of the Aramaeans (Petrosyan 1997:160; Petrosyan 2002:79,164). The myth of the first Haykids is closely connected to the Georgian ethnogonic legend attested of the by Leonti Mroveli (11th century).

In the Septuagint version of the Bible is yet another clue.
Isaiah 10:9 then shall he say, Have I not taken the country above Babylon and Chalanes, where the tower was built? and have I not taken Arabia, and Damascus, and Samaria?
Chalanes is Carcamesh, on the Euphrates. Which may actually make the Ur (meaning city) of the god Khaldi… places like Urartu. Khaldi was worshipped all across Armenia major and minor, by the original Hatti (found later, beneath the invasion layer), the Hurrians and may have been called Zeus by the Pelasgians (not by the Greek invaders)… and as god of the bright sky killed Chronos… which may also have been Bel.
Dear writer.Recently I ‘ve been interested about an article in which said that there is a mysterious book which called The voynich manuscript. The book has random letters and no one can guess what language it is.The whole article you can find on youtube.Ted ed Voynich manuscript..I think it has links to ancient aramaic alphabet..
