The photo depicts the most famous historical building of Dilijan. This two-story building was built in the 90s of the 19th century for Princess Mariam Tumanyan who at the time lived in Tiflis. The building located in the city center next to the Aghstev River has served as a summer residence.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the entire gamut of the Armenian intelligentsia has gathered in Dilijan during the summer months. And all of them without fail have visited the hospitable summer residence of Princess Mariam Tumanyan.
In 1979, this house became a museum of folk art thanks to the efforts of ethnographer Hovhannes Sharambeyan.
