Turkish politician Levent Gültekin made a noteworthy comment on Halk TV – a TV channel owned by the Kemalist Republican People’s Party (CHP).
The Turkish politician especially criticized the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), Devlet Bahçeli, who recently proposed to join the Nakhichevan Autonomous Region to Azerbaijan.
This was reported by the pro-government Turkish newspaper “Sabah”.
According to the source, after making the scandalous statement, Levent Gültekin noted: “(Turkey) will join the Nakhichevan Autonomous Region to Azerbaijan and, in all likelihood, occupy the territory of Armenia between them.
First, does Azerbaijan exist? Azerbaijan is a tribe. There is no democracy there. The law doesn’t work. An authoritarian government is established there. Elections are not being held as they should. So far, a normal state has not been created in its territory.”
The Turkish politician also opposed the military actions launched by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. As the Turkish newspaper reports, “the politician made significant statements in support of Armenia, the likes of which haven’t been made even on Armenian television.”
