The 12,000 Years Old Hasankeyf Destroyed In Turkey

The 12,000-year-old Hasankeyf, one of the oldest areas of the western Turkish province of Batman, was destroyed in front of everyone. The site was flooded with concrete, which marked the creation of the “New Face” of Hasankeyf.

According to the “Anatolia” news agency, yesterday, after the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) completed the construction of the Ilısu Dam in Hasankeyf, the remaining historical values in the lake area were transferred to a newly built village.

“Anatolia” shared photos of the new Hasankeyf and commented: “Hasankeyf is waiting for guests with a new face.” Social media users sharply criticized the article and the photos presented by the media. The Justice and Development Party and the “Anatolia” agency were criticized as well.
