Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Nuri Ersoy said in response to a written request from Kemalist Republican People’s Party (CHP) MP Aydin Ozero that Turkey would not pay compensation to the Swiss company Sicpa Turkey for the Byzantine Hagia Sophia, which was turned into a mosque recently.
This was reported by Cumhuriyet. Cumhuriyet also reminded that the aforementioned company had obtained the right to use Hagia Sofia as a museum for 9 years.
