Since 1988, Nikolay Vanyan was an active participant in the Artsakh self-defense. In the clothes of a priest, with the Holy Book and a cross in his hands, he passed through Russian-Azerbaijani outposts, carrying weapons for self-defense units in Armenian villages.
Vanyan died on December 28, 1991, on the outskirts of the village of Krkzhan. He was posthumously awarded the Courage Medal of the Republic of Armenia and the Battle Cross of the second degree of the Republic of Artsakh.
We should know our heroes.
