Samuel Der-Yeghiaian, First Armenian immigrant to be appointed to a federal judgeship in the United States

Samuel Der-Yeghiaian (Born: February 16, 1952, Syria, Education: University of New Hampshire School of Law, Evangel University) is the United States District Court Judge 4 the Northern District of Illinois. President Bush appointed him 2 the position in 2003.

He previously served as a judge in the Executive Office 4 Immigration Review & attorney in the Immigration & Naturalization Service, receiving the INS “District Counsel of the Year” award in 1998. He holds a degree from the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
