Matsun-Making In The Armenian Highlands Is 5000 Years Old

The 5000-year-old churn kept in the Amasi Archaeological Museum of Western Armenia sheds light on the creation of matsun, an Armenian fermented milk product. This is proof that our ancestors have made matsun in the Armenian Highlands 5000 years ago.

The churn made 5000 years ago in the Bronze Age has a length of 30 cm. The rings for its suspension ropes have also been preserved.

This find makes it obvious that at a time when agricultural settlements were just being created, the art of making matsun had already been mastered in the Armenian Highlands in Historical Armenia.

In addition to this churn, other churns made from wood, clay, and leather dating to the same periods have been found. This particular churn on its own reveals many secrets of our past.
