The Tree Of Life In The Ancient Armenian Pantheon – Apricot Tree

It is not known exactly when ancient Armenians have celebrated the new year, but illustrations of cuneiform writings found in Armavir and Shengavit (some of which are presented in the photo below) indicate that they celebrated the new year with a theatrical performance around the Tree of Life. The Tree of Life in the Armenian pantheon was the apricot tree.

The cuneiform pictured below was made by Rusa I, son of Sarduri II and King of the Kingdom of Van (Biaynili-Urartu) from 735-714 BC.
