4,000 Years Old Olive Seeds Discovered In Cilicia

During excavations at the Oylum Höyük archaeological site in Cilicia (now Turkey), archaeologists discovered 4,000 years old olive seeds.

Researchers are now trying to determine whether the genetic material of these seeds is similar to that of the seeds currently grown in the region.

Apart from the olive seeds, basalt gravel rocks that had been supposedly used in the production of olive oil were also unearthed at the archaeological site.
