In the 1st century AD, King of Armenia Trdat I built the pagan temple of Garni in the Azat River Valley. Now, Armenians have to pay 1500 drams (about $3) to visit this shrine. Entry tickets for Armenians are three times cheaper than for tourists.
Armenians pay to access Garni even though they are paying taxes. These very taxes have allowed Garni to stay in relatively good condition. And when we take into account paid medicine, paid education, paid public transport, and paid cultural monuments, the Armenian taxation system looks like theft.
