Billy Kaufman – “The Fate Of Armenians To Be Underestimated”

A few years back, American journalist Billy Kaufman has published an article titled “Armenian Rhapsody” where he talks about the Armenian fate to be underestimated and rejected.

“Films related to Armenians always fail, including Atom Egoyan’s ‘Ararat’ or last year’s ‘The Promise’, a large-budget epic project about the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 which was ignored by the entertainment industry.

Heck, even the Cambodian’ The Killing Fields’ did not go unnoticed.

One of the constants of the history of mankind is that nobody cares about the Armenians,” writes Billy Kaufman in his article published in “The American Conservative”.

The American publicist also cites the example that the talent of American writer of Armenian origin William Saroyan has not been appreciated during his lifetime, and the calls for peace in his works have not been heard.

The author added that he himself would not be interested in the Armenian heritage had he not married an Armenian. He concluded by admitting that he feels guilty for not reading the “The Forty Days of Musa Dagh” by Franz Werfel.
