An Armenian Under Skillful Leadership Rushes Into Battle – Garegin Nzhdeh

Under skillful leadership, the Armenian rushes into battle, ignores death, and readily sacrifices himself. And vice versa – in the absence of such, he loses inspiration, becomes discouraged. That is why the matter of the leader for the Armenian lies mainly in the moral and patriotic plane.

It is unpatriotic and immoral when the unworthy, weak-minded, non-dedicated soul breaks into leaders. A military leader must first of all be strong in spirit. And to be so, he must despise wealth, and pleasure, and death.

No, it is not enough to be a military leader by rank, you also need to be strong – this is the requirement of an Armenian to his leaders.

Your first time in command, commander? Be obsessed with love for your homeland and aspiration for glory, become a madman, a hero, a god in human form, and multiply your spiritual strength tenfold in order to win the battle.

Woe betide you if you lose – an inglorious future awaits you.

The fiery names of Alexander, Hannibal, Caesar, who reached the heights of military glory, might have remained unknown to the world if they had lost their first battle. Yes, very often, the outcome of the first battle decides our future fate.
