This golden carved vessel for the Nshkhar (a bread given to churchgoers after the Holy Badarak (Holy Mass) in the Armenian Church) decorated with precious stones, was made in 1687 by the hands of the Armenian jeweler Sedrak in the town of Mazhak, Lesser Armenia (present-day Kesaria, in the territory of Turkey).
The engraved vessel for the relics of the sacrament features the Last Supper and the Coronation of the Virgin.
The vessel was presented at the “Armenia” exhibition opened at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The vessel is preserved in the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.
