A Monument To The Victims Of The Assyrian Genocide In Ottoman Turkey Opened In Germany

A monument to the victims of the Assyrian genocide of 1915, Ottoman Turkey, was erected near the German city of Giessen with the efforts of local Assyrians.

In 2017, the local city administration made a unanimous decision on the installation of the monument. The opening of the monument was attended by about 200 people.

The Assyrian genocide along with the Armenian Genocide and the genocide of the Pontic Greeks is among the crimes committed by Ottoman Turkey that are aggressively denied by modern Turkish society.

Memorials to the victims of the Assyrian genocide have also been erected in Chicago (USA), Yerevan (Armenia), Paris (France), and Athens (Greece). 750 thousand Assyrians fell victim to the genocide.
