Events Occurring Today Determine The Future – Garegin Nzhdeh

Our time – the time of revolutionary changes, today’s events – determines the future. For a long time already, humanity has been sitting on a volcano. The old world is mined. The human – both as an individual and as a society – today is more than ever unsure of the future and is embarrassed in spirit.

Shocks in all walks of life are terrible. State, economy, religion, and philosophy are all in crisis. Everything in life is being reevaluated. Peoples with unprecedented revolutionary fury are destroying false values, ideas, and truths to create new ones instead.

The paths of history have changed, and a sharp turn has begun. A new world, a new story is beginning, the creator of which is a new human – a man of fate, danger, and heroism.

Everywhere – in the West and in the East, in the old and new world – in anticipation of the horrors of the future, ancient nations are becoming spiritually younger, while the young are becoming more active.

People have never been so exhausted. Each is seeking to awaken his hidden forces, to overcome his inner weakness, and tame and curb his centrifugal forces, envy, and anger.

All – both the victors and the vanquished, large and small – have gone to conquer the inner desert so that it disappears not only from the map of their countries but also from their souls.

The alarming situation is especially emphasized by the three-headed danger – Bolshevism, war, and degeneration of one’s nation. For a successful struggle against the latter, people can only rely on their clan instinct and the infallibility of their natural morality.

Everywhere, individuals and classes limit their individual rights and benefits in the name of Family and Homeland. And such self-restraint – the highest manifestation of self-sacrifice – does not humiliate, does not depersonalize a human being. Rather, it strengthens, enriches his spiritual life.

For all nations – especially those who came out of the war seriously wounded and with great losses and defeats – the need to concentrate, organize, and activate their forces has acquired the form of tribal religion.

They are making inhuman efforts to heal their wounds on one hand, and on the other, they are getting ready to fully face the impending danger.
