Hovhannes Tumanyan – Traveler of Eternity

The below documentary tells about the life and activity of Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan (1869-1923).

Tumanyan was born in the village of Dsegh in the Lori region. In his youth, he ended up in Tiflis and found himself in social, political, and cultural turmoil.

The famous poet was also an active public figure, for which he was arrested, charged, though then acquitted. His social activity often hindered the realization of his inexhaustible creative potential. Life is very short, after all.

Hovhannes Tumanyan became a companion of the life course of the Armenian people and one of the pillars of our literature thanks to his multi-volume works, articles, and organized social and cultural events.
