Elina Martirosyan is a wunderkind from Armenia. Since the age of 4, she has been creating new jazz standards and performed them on various musical instruments.
Elina was born into a family of musicians. From the first days of her life, she has listened to jazz and liked it very much. At the age of 2, Elina was present at the presentation of the musical album “Shadow Theater” by famous Armenian jazz musician Tigran Hamasyan.
Elina’s parents told Armenia.IM that the little girl was delighted with this album. Later, she tried to play the tracks from this album on the piano and marimba. At the same time, Elina constantly listened to the performances of such great jazz musicians as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, and many other masters. In addition to jazz, Elina likes soul music, R & B, smooth jazz, and bossa nova. For example, she likes Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Michael Franks, and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Once, Elina’s parents noticed that she was playing an unknown jazz composition on a marimba. They asked her, “Who composed the music you are playing?” She replied, “I did”. Later, Elina wrote several jazz pieces which she would perform with her father-pianist. Currently, Elina’s parents are looking for funds to record a music album consisting of Elina’s compositions and performances.
In the video, Elina performs her own works on a marimba, accompanied by her father-pianist Levon Martirosyan.
