The military exercises “Free Fire 2020” were held with the participation of a number of units of the Turkish Ground Forces. Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Yaşar Güler, the army headquarters, and other high-ranking military personnel took part in them as well.
1096 servicemen from different branches of the military participated in the drills in which the coordination of fire support of the troops was worked out. It is noted that a total of 37 weapon systems were used during the exercises, 4 of which the Turkish army had received on the exercises’ eve.
During the exercise, Turkish-made weapons were used, such as MPT-76 assault rifles, OMTAS medium-range anti-tank systems, Kargu kamikaze drones, Korkut short-range anti-aircraft missile systems, AK-40-GL grenade launchers, Fırtına howitzers, artillery, etc.
It is noteworthy that before the start of the exercises, it was announced that they were dedicated to “victims and militants who did not spare their lives and blood to defend the Motherland” in Turkey and abroad. The Azerbaijanis who had attacked Artsakh were awarded fraternal parting words and praise as well.
