An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 shook the Seferihisar district of the Turkish province of Izmir.
According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake was registered on October 30 at about 14:51 local time.
Tremors were recorded at a depth of 17-26 km. The earthquake affected Izmir, the Aegean Sea, the Sea of Marmara, Istanbul, and Bursa. According to preliminary information, 21 buildings collapsed.
The earthquake was immediately followed by a tsunami. Some streets in the coastal areas were flooded. Sometime later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4․3 occurred.
The earthquake caused panic among the population.
