Russia Plans to Open a Consulate General in Syunik, Armenia

On October 5, a meeting took place between the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s group for the opening of the Russian Consulate General in Kapan and the Mayor of Megri.

As reported by “Armenpress,” the Russian Embassy in Armenia announced this on its official Facebook page, clarifying that discussions were centered on the prospects for the swift opening of a new consular institution of Russia in the Syunik region. This move will significantly simplify consular services for Russian citizens living in the south of Armenia.

Moreover, it was noted that the new Consulate General would contribute to the further strengthening of Armenian-Russian relations and the stabilization of the situation in the region. It would also expand cultural, humanitarian, trade-economic, and interregional cooperation, according to the statement from the Russian Embassy.

Bad News for Kapan

The scheme of occupation and genocide tested in Artsakh will be applied by Russia in other regions of RA. Lragir has repeatedly addressed this issue. Strikes will be directed where Russian troops are stationed, which, following the example of Artsakh, will carry out the mission of operational guarantees for Baku interventions. The “imminent opening” of the Russian consulate in Syunik implies an acceleration of plans in the main direction of Erash-Yerevan.
