The Latvian “Neatkarīgā” newspaper presented the 7 best sights of Armenia that can interest tourists. As reported by “Armenpress”, the list was compiled after an interview with the Armenian Ambassador to Latvia Tigran Mkrtchyan.
In the first place is the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin. “Neatkarīgā” notes that it is the largest surviving Christian church in the world and was built in 301. The resource also adds that there are other famous churches, museums, and locations associated with the history of Christianity in Etchmiadzin.
The second attraction is Lake Sevan – “Neatkarīgā” reports that it is the largest lake in Armenia.
In the rating of the Latvian resource, the Khor Virap monastery took third place. “Neatkarīgā” notes that this is one of the destinations of pilgrimage in Armenia and that the biblical Ararat is best seen from Khor Virap.
The fifth in the list is the Tatev monastery complex followed by the Geghard complex and the Garni pagan temple.
