Karmravor St. Astvatsatsin church, Ashtarak Armenia

Karmravor St. Astvatsatsin church is situated on the northeastern side of Ashtarak city, not far from the old Berdatagh on the high hillside.

The date of the construction of the church is unknown. There is no evidence in the literary sources either.

Its compositional solution and architectural details make it a 7th-century building, which reaches us nearly unchanging and standing.

There is a medieval graveyard with khachkars (cross-stones) and gravestones from the 13th – 17th centuries in the court of St. Karmravor church.

The oldest khachkar (1184) is of Arkakazmogh. Only the pedestal and five-line inscription remain to us.

The tomb of the great Armenian poet Gevorg Emin is also located here at the church of Karmravor.
