On June 11, on the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Latvia (in Vilnius), the famous American company Delos released the album of the full concert version of Komitas’ “Sacred Liturgy” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the great composer and clergyman. “Armenpress” was informed about this at the RA Embassy in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia.
The recording of the “Liturgy” was preceded by a concert on September 20, 2019, on the oldest street of the city. The concert was conducted by the Latvian Radio Choir with the participation of Armenian soloists Hovhannes Nersisyan and Armen Badalyan in the Church of St. John under the direction of conductor Sigvards Kļava. The recording of the “Liturgy” took place in the same church.
The release of the album is unique in that a mixed group of foreign representatives, such as the Latvian Radio Choir, performed for the first time, giving birth to the full live version of Komitas’ “Liturgy”.
The preparation of the project took about three years.
