The documentary below presents the story of Old Jugha (Julfa) located on the left bank of the Araks River and reveals the destruction of an ancient Armenian cemetery by the Azerbaijani authorities of Nakhichevan.
Thousands of decorative khachkars (cross-stones) and gravestones used to be here. They were destroyed by bulldozers. Currently, the territory of the former cemetery that spans three hills houses a firing field.
Between December 10 and 14, 2005, the Azerbaijani army finally managed to destroy the khachkars and gravestones of the ancient Armenian cemetery of Jugha in an attempt to wipe out traces of past Armenian presence.
